International Volunteer Day 2006

Dear volunteers,

Today the international community is celebrating the International Volunteer Day. Today volunteers
all over the globe receive public recognition for their contributions and endeavours. This is also a
day for our movement – Youth Action for Peace. I would like to thank all you for the donations in
time, knowledge, skills, and dedication to work in their communities towards peace, justice, and
selfdetermination.

I sincerely respect what you have been given to our movement. You are the foundation for
achieving our common visions. During 2006 you have supported to organise YAP programs and
activities for more than 2500 international volunteers participating. It has been your contributions
throughout the year that inspires the movement to grow and accomplish its goals.
I also would like to recognize our international volunteers who give their skills and talents to our
community projects in order to carry out our vision of peace, justice, and solidarity.

The International Volunteer Day on December 5th, 2006 gives recognition and attention you deserve.
After December 5th – the work as volunteers goes on with or without publicity and well-deserved
recognition because we still face a world in need of peace, justice, and self-determination of people.
As your new International Secretary I respect and support your dedicated work as volunteers of all
ages around the gloabe, carrying out every imaginable kind of activity for our movement. Let us
keep the spirit of the International Volunteer Day and work together for achieving our mission.
